Police have made another arrest in the home invasion murder of a Brampton man.
Daniel Colacito was arrested at his Thornhill home by York Regional Police at about 9 p.m. Friday. Hours earlier, Peel Regional Police had issued a Canada-wide arrest warrant for the 36-year-old and a 17-year-old male.
The two were being sought on first degree murder charges in connection with the death of 38-year-old George Kalogerakis, killed Nov. 12 during an Earth Star Trail home invasion.
According to Peel police, Colacito’s whereabouts were “conveyed” to police in York Region. Peel police offered thanks to colleagues in York region and the public for helping apprehend Colacito.
“He was arrested at his house without incident,” said Peel Police Const. J.P. Valade.
He is being held in Peel on a first degree murder charge and awaiting a Brampton court appearance.
Police are still hunting for teenager Gabriel McKoy. Investigators received special judicial permission to release the youth’s name and photograph until Nov. 25 or until he is arrested.
“We’re strongly urging that he contact a lawyer and turn himself in,” said Valade.
McKoy is described a as black, 5-foot-7, 160 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. Police consider him armed and extremely dangerous. The public are being told not to approach him, but contact police if they know his whereabouts.
Police said the teenager continues to “defy his family’s wishes to turn himself in to” police.
Police have already made three arrests in this homicide investigation.
On Wednesday, a 15-year-old boy and 21-year-old Shevon Bailey were arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Isaac Kwakye, 18, was charged last Saturday with first-degree murder in the death of Kalogerakis.
Kalogerakis was killed in his home, near Dixie Road and Bovaird Drive, during what investigators called a targeted home invasion involving drugs and money.
