Another NPP MP Falls ....

Ex-Mayor wins Tema East NPP Parliamentary seat

Tema, May 27, GNA -- Mr Samuel Evans Ashong Narh, Former Mayor of Tema, was on Tuesday elected Parliamentary candidate for Tema East Constituency of New Patriotic Party (NPP) at its primaries held at Tema.

Mr Narh polled 71 votes to unseat Mr Ishmael Ashitey(picture), incumbent Member of Parliament who had 49 votes. He has served three terms as a Parliamentarian from 1996 to 2008.

One hundred and twenty delegates cast their votes at the election supervised by Mr Michael Boadu, Tema Municipal Electoral Officer. Mr Narh, Former Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive pledged to unite members of the Party and work hard to retain the seat for the constituency.

However, he asked them to respect each other's view, intensify their campaigns and rally behind him to enable NPP retain the seat. Mr Ashitey pledged to support Mr Narh in his political endeavour for success.

Prior to the primaries, two NPP Parliamentary Aspirants, Mr Daniel Nii Kwatei Titus-Glover, a 42-year-old Labour Consultant and Mr Ramseyer Agyemang Prempeh 37, an educationist were disqualified from contesting. While Mr Titus-Glover was disqualified for not possessing a current voter ID card Mr Agyemang was accused of contesting as an Independent candidate in a previous election.

Meanwhile, Mr Narh would contest the constituency seat with Mr Kempes Ofosuware, a 43-year-old Accounts Officer who is the Parliamentary Candidate for National Democratic Congress (NDC).
