Andani's Boycott Reconciliation Workshop

The Andani Royal Family of Dagbon has boycotted a Peace and Reconciliation workshop currently underway in Akosombo. The workshop is one of the two initiatives by the Ministry of Interior and sponsored by the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation to reconcile the Andani and Abudu gates.

But the Andani Royal Family has refused to attend the workshop describing it as a gimmick by the government to run away from the truth. They also allege that the workshop is taking place in a hostile environment.

A Special Assistant to the Information Minister, Ferdinand Ayim has however described as unfortunate the Andani?s boycott of the workshop. He said the workshop is one of the multilateral approach government is adopting to resolve the Dagbon crisis.

He said it is government?s intention to seek justice through the prosecution of the perpetrators of the crime and at the same time employ dialogue to find a lasting solution to the problem.

''There is a saying that it is better to jaw jaw than war war because even after war war, you jaw jaw. That is why we think it is important to jaw jaw at this stage'', Mr Ayim added.

He said the Akosombo workshop which is being attended by religious traditional and political leaders of different persuasions should be seen as government?s commitment to peace and justice in Dagbon.

He therefore appealed to both families to agree to a dialogue.
