It is yet another overseas recognition for doing what he does best. Seeking to uncover by all means necessary, information others would not find. Hard core evidence as he puts it, to ''name, shame and jail,'' the bad guys.

Anas Armeyaw Anas, Ghana's leading investigative journalist flew across the Atlantic to pick up another award in the land of Stars and Stripes (the United States on America) specifically to the New England State of Massachusetts.

There, his customized threesome public appearance of the recent past played out as he (they) stepped up to receive a plaque, a key and citation from the mayor of the City of Worcester in Massachusetts.

He was given the symbolic 'Key of the City' by the Mayor, Joesph M. Petty for his ''distinguishd contribution to investigative journalism.''

The 'Key to the City' program in Worchester was started in 1924 by one Mayor Michael J. O'Hara.

Anas Speaks to Ghanaweb

In an exclusive interview with this reporter, the masked Anas, noted that as always he looked beyond everyday, every award and every obstacle because there was far more work to be done.

''As I have always maintained, my team and I live each day doing all it takes to play our part in anti corruption and human rights efforts. These are two areas we must do all it takes to protect,'' he added.

''One people decide to pilfer the public kitty and others decide to treat fellow human beings in socially and cultrurally unacceptable ways, we must stand up and fight because we are all affected in one way or the other,'' he added.

Anas's letter of commendation signed by Mayor M. Patty read, ''Your commitment to exposing the corrupt governments and human rights abuses in Sub Saharan Africa have saved the lives of children and adults and extended them the opportunity for a brighter future.''

It further described investigative journalism as a powerful tool and lauded Anas' determination to discover the truth and thereby lead the call for justice and reform as he has always tried his best to do.
