Anas partner's death: Ken Agyapong must be interrogated by Parliament immediately - The Crusaders

MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong

A group calling itself, The Crusaders have urged the Parliament of Ghana to as a matter of emergency interrogate the Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong over Wednesday night's gruesome murder of investigative journalist, Ahmed Hussein-Suale, a key member of the private investigative firm, Tiger Eye PI.

Ahmed Hussein-Suale until his untimely death, was an undercover investigative journalist working for the Tiger Eye publications led by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Mr Hussein-Suale was shot twice in the chest and once in the neck in the Accra suburb of Madina at about 23:00 GMT on Wednesday night, January 16, 2019 reports say.

The late journalist who was a key member of the Tiger Eye group was murdered by unknown gunmen, late Wednesday night when he was on his way home. He was shot three times.

So many Ghanaians including the sitting President Akufo-Addo and former President John Mahama have expressed their shock over the incident and have also urged the Ghana Police and other security agencies to bring the killers of the undercover journalist to book.

Meanwhile, the police have commenced investigation into the incident and urged the general public assist them with vital information to uproot these murders (nation destroyers)

The police CID on Thursday, January 17, 2019 interrogated Hon. Kennedy Agyapong who was the first person to expose the Ahmed pictures on his private TV, Net2 during the #12 video saga.

In excerpts of the viral video, Mr Ken Agyapong who appears to be on a show on his television station, NET2 Television, displayed pictures of Ahmed, and described him as a dangerous man and told viewers that he lived in Madina.

In that video he showed the images of Ahmed and said he is a bad guy and should be seriously beaten anytime someone sees him and that he, Hon Kennedy Agyapong is ready to pay for that beating at any level.

Currently, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong is not in Ghana, he left the country to China for a private business and he is expected to be in the country on Thursday.

The Police CID has assured the public of continuing investigating Hon. Kennedy Agyapong and also Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

But in a statement issued by The Crusaders and signed by its leader, Jambeidu Sadat and copied to the media, they suspect Hon. Kennedy Agyapong might know something about the death of the Anas' friend.

The statement opined "We are also calling for the immediate interrogation of the member of parliament for Assin North, Hon Kennedy Agyapong based on his exposure of pictures of Anas Armeyaw Anas and the same Ahmed in his video caption "who watches the watch man".

The statement added "We are by this press release pleading with Ghana's Parliament to crack the whip through sanctions on the Honourable member based on his attitude of frequently putting fellow members of parliament into shame through his unguided comments and dragging the name of Ghana's parliament into the mud".

"Why this brutality at this moment where corruption has become a normal phenomenon and nothing is done about it? Is it because HE has turned himself as a clearing agent and sees nothing wrong with corruption? Hmmmm", the statement lamented.

The statement also urged the GJA to take up the matter to ensure justice for deceased innocent Ahmed.

The statement emphasized "JOURNALISM IS NOT A CRIME".

The Crusaders have, therefore, called on the state security agencies to act quickly as a matter of urgency before another crusader of anti corruption loses his or her life.

"Based on this evidence, we are calling on the state security apparatus to act quickly as a matter of urgency before we lose other prominent crusaders of anti corruption", the statement urged.

Below is the full statement

PRESS RELEASE BY THE CRUSADERS ON THE KILLING OF A JOURNALIST, A MEMBER OF TIGER EYE PI. MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR ASSIN NORTH HON KENNEDY AGYAPONG MUST BE INTERROGATED

Greetings From The Crusaders.

We are indeed sad men and women as we woke up this morning to hear the sad news of the killing of an anti-corruption journalist who is a key member of Tiger eye PI.

Ghana is indeed bleeding today as we just lost a strong crusader against all acts of corruption through the uncovering of several corrupt practices in Ghana and the world at large.

Why this brutality at this moment where corruption has become a normal phenomenon and nothing is done about it? Is it because HE has turned himself as a clearing agent and sees nothing wrong with corruption? Hmmmm.

We are calling on the Inspector General of Police and the National Security, to look into this matter with all the seriousness it deserves because the life of the young man should not be wasted at this time that we needed him most. Journalism is not a crime and we can't phantom why he has been brutally murdered. Just because of the exposure of corruption?

We are also calling for the immediate interrogation of the member of parliament for Assin North, Hon Kennedy Agyapong based on his exposure of pictures of Anas Armeyaw Anas and the same Ahmed in his video caption "who watches the watch man".

Based on this evidence, we are calling on the state security apparatus to act quickly as a matter of urgency before we lose other prominent crusaders of anti corruption.

We are by this press release pleading with Ghana's Parliament to crack the whip through sanctions on the Honourable member based on his attitude of frequently putting fellow members of parliament into shame through his unguided comments and dragging the name of Ghana's parliament into the mud.

Also, we are sending a signal to the Ghana Association of Journalist to take up the matter to ensure justice for this innocent and hard working gentleman because a fight for Ahmed is a fight for all journalists.

We are sadded, because if things have started this way, then it sends an indication of trying to silence the anti- corruption crusaders, hmmmmm. Ghana needs more of Ahmed and Tiger Eye PI but look at what is happening? The crusaders as a group are with all members of Tiger eye PI in this time of grief.

We are sending a message of Condolences to Anas Armeyaw Anas and the entire members of Tiger Eye PI for the lost of their member. We are with you and will stand by you in this moment till we get to the root of this matter through the state security.

We will conclude by telling government to allow the state security to go into this matter and bring the perpetrators to book and If the infidelity of our Judiciary is important, then Ahmed deserve state mourning. Flags flying at half-mast is not far-fetched. Da Yie!!!

We shall follow the turn out of events as long as this matter is concerned to ensure justice for Ahmed and to see that steps are being taken to protecting other journalists, most especially the anti-corruption crusaders.

JOURNALISM IS NOT A CRIME

#SAY NO TO THE KILLING OF JOURNALISTS#
