Anas finally speaks on what triggered Number 12

For the first time since the expose football corruption, ace undercover investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas will openly speak to the motivation behind the “Number 12” investigative project which unearthed massive corruption in African football.

Touted by connoisseurs and pundits of the inky fraternity and stakeholders alike, as the most dreaded undercover project of all time to have not just rocked football in Ghana, but Africa as a whole, the “Number 12” resulted in many casualties within the football arena.

Following from which the controversies continue to linger on after the premiering of the video on 6th June 2018 at the Accra International Conference Centre and subsequently showed at various venues across the country.

The massive footprints from the Tiger Eye PI project led by Africa’s most feared and well achieved undercover journalist, saw the President of the Ghana Football Association, GFA, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi banned from all football-related activities for life after he was suspended by FIFA 48-hours after the first premiering of the expose.

Mr. Nyantakyi also lost his positions as Confederation of African Football, CAF, first vice chairman, FIFA Council member and chairman of the WAFU Zone B. Many other football administrators, especially referees who were captured in the over two years of painstaking sting operation also received various sanctions between two to ten years bans from the world football governing body, FIFA.

Last week, wife of embattled former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi, told Metro TV’s flagship current affairs talk programme, “Good Evening Ghana”, that her husband paid a whopping 100,000 US dollars, as a desperate effort in an attempt to stop the airing of the then heavily promoted “Number 12” before it was shown.



She, however, claimed the said amount was later returned in two tranches of 60, and 40 thousand dollars to the family after the video was aired.

Many have expressed divergent opinions on the operations and modus operandi of Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team, especially after “Number 12”.

Anas has taken the concerns and feedback in good strides and therefore taken the opportunity to address these concerns and also to speak on the “Number 12” and its fallouts.

On Friday evening, the 23rd November 2018, at the plush Best Western Plus Atlantic Hotel in Takoradi, Anas will deliver what is expected to be one of his most emotional reactions to his works spanning over 20 years of undercover investigative journalism.

The event is the 3rd edition of the annual “The Press Foundation National Media Festival”.

Dubbed, “TPF National Media Festival 2018” under the theme, “The Role of Investigative Journalism in the fight against corruption in Ghana”, it is expected to attract hundreds who would want to take the opportunity to listen and seek answers from the renowned undercover investigative journalist.

Other speakers include Host of Joy FM/TV flagship talk programme, Samson Lardi Anyenini, Head of Multimedia’s investigative team, Manasseh Azure Awuni and Executive Director of The Press Foundation and International Freelance Journalist, Listowell Yesu Bukarson.

Information Minister, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah will be the special guest of honour.
