Anas engages the youth in corruption fight with ‘Tiger Eye App’

Investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has taken his undercover investigations to the next level with the introduction of the ‘Tiger Eye App’ which will empower every individual interested in the fight against corruption to film corrupt acts in their communities and help expose the bad guys.

According to Anas, this mobile app which is currently available to Android phones is a way of engaging the youth of Africa in the fight against corruption.

The ‘Tiger Eye App’ makes secret recording of corrupt acts harder to notice. It was developed by Anas’ Tiger Eye PI together with a Swedish company known as Klarity.

In a DW interview monitored by GhanaWeb, Anas Aremeyaw Anas stated that the youth of this generation are very interested in technology, therefore, the ‘Tiger Eye App’ will get the youth engaged in the fight against corruption in Africa.

“If you look at the surveys across the African continent, you will realize that most youth are engaged on their phones trying to communicate and therefore as an investigator, this app will serve as a cutting edge solution to involve all these youthful people to be engaged in the fight against corruption,” he said.

The ace investigator bemoans that just like the Facebooks, Instagrams and all other applications including WeChat, he was fortunate to collaborate with a Swedish company called Klarity to build the backend tech of his new application.

He added that his new app is about engaging the youth of Africa and giving them a platform where they can all go out to be their own ‘Je suis Anas’; to be their own Anases out there, film the bad stuff and make society a better place.

Anas believes that filming cases of corruption with ‘Tiger Eye App’ won’t draw attention to users.

“I just want to tease people to get into the detail of this app, it will shock you that this app is even much better than the cameras I wear to go to do undercover,” he noted.

The Tiger Eye app which was released on March 12, 2019, has had over 1,000 downloads and subscribers.

“I keep on telling the bad guys who destabilize society, who steal money from our kitty that the work we do is for posterity. This mask, you can shoot me dead today but I can tell you there will be 10 more Anases rising. Our message doesn’t change, we say that we will name, shame and jail and that is a collective effort. We want to tell the bad guys that it’s not just about an individual, it’s an institution,” he warned.
