Founder of the Liberal Party of Ghana, Kofi Akpaloo has described investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his team as 'cheats' who are on a deliberate agenda to destroy the image of the country for their own gains.

Kofi Akpaloo wondered how Anas and his team have been able to acquire huge properties for the kind of work they do particularly roles that are considered 'human interest'.

On the basis of this, he suspects that the modus operandi of the Tiger Eye PI team is to blackmail their victims into paying huge sums of money after retrieving some vital information from them insinuating that people who are able to pay get their footages deleted from what is broadcast.

The 2016 presidential aspirant of the LPG didn't mince words in accusing the Tiger Eye PI team lead by Anas Aremeyaw Anas of not putting the interest of the country first.

If they did, he believed they won't be out there fishing for things that are non-existent or do not in any way affect the development of the country in any way.

He asserts that corruption occurs every where, even in well-established democracies and advanced countries thus it baffles him how Anas and his team create the impression that Ghana's most pressing problem is the age-old canker.

"Anas never liked this country, he always wants to disgrace this country because you know Kwesi Nyantekyi's case, the FIFA issue, what was his motive? His motive was to make us become more slaves in our own country, telecasting this and showing it to the whole world showing that Ghanaians we are corrupt, we are cheap people. Does he know how many people who are in Europe and America and are receiving bribes? I don't think he knows," he detailed in an interview with www.Ghanaweb.com.

The flagbearer hopeful continued, "So because he wants to take money from those people, that is why he was showing those videos. I don't think he loves this country that is he was doing that. He was doing this thing just to coerce people, take money from them because that young man who died (Ahmed Hussein-Suale), from what I am hearing, I learnt he has about three/ four houses. What did he do to get these kinds of houses?"

Corruption is not Ghana's biggest problem, its ignorance

The outspoken politician disagreed with what many in Ghana, including President Akufo-Addo mark to be a huge challenge for the State, corruption.

Though he admits the country is battling with corruption, he stressed that ignorance is Ghana's greatest problem.

Kofi Akpaloo claims worst corruption cases are reported in advanced countries yet the phenomenon isn't considered a canker that deserves the kind of attention Anas and his team are placing on it.

The 2020 flagbearer hopeful of the Liberal Party of Ghana firmly holds that Ghanaians' inability to create wealth and transform the country despite the resources it has is something that should occupy our minds and not corruption.

"Ghana our problem is not corruption, our problem is ignorance. If anybody tells you that our problem is corruption then the person doesn't know what he is talking about. When you go to America, when you go anywhere in the world there is corruption. Everywhere in the world, there is corruption and massive corruption, not small corruption, massive corruption but here, we play on our ignorance."

"I don't support corruption crusade. I am not saying that people should go dupe the state but that is not our biggest problem. Our major problem is ignorance. Ignorance of not knowing what we are doing as a people, ignorance of not knowing how to create wealth, not knowing how to create jobs, not knowing how to develop our community, not knowing how to develop our major problems. That is our biggest problem," he maintained.
