American Ambassador Abandons Forum

The American ambassador in Ghana and some Journalists who attended the Ghana Investment Forum being organised by Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), in Accra late, were prevented by the security. This attracted the anger of the American Ambassador who angrily left the premises of Accra International Conference Centre where the function is taking place.

President J.E.A. Mills says Government’s main policy in the area of agriculture is a strong commitment to modernizing Farming methods, to ensure food security. He said government has plans of providing adequate facilities, supplying of raw materials to industry, and processing of farm produce for local consumption as well as export earnings.

President Mills said a key factor in Agric modernization equation is irrigation. President Mills stated these when he officially opened the Ghana Investment Forum being organised by Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), in Accra for three (3) days. President Mills said increased Private Sector Investments in the Agricultural Sector will help promote growth of the economy and lead to a better Ghana.

President Mills said recent visit of President Obama to Cape Coast Castle, and re-launch of Panafest/Emancipation Day would help drive tourism sector. On ICT President Mills noted that, it is the force that drives the world, for that matter the service should be extended to all corners of Ghana. He said he has confidence in the Experts, investors, and government officials etc who are attending the forum to come out with measures to woo investors into the country.

The Board Chairman of GIPC, Dr. Ishmael Yamson, said in these days of financial crisis, only countries with prudent economic management will attract capital for investment. According to our correspondent in the castle, President Mills went to the Program early but most participants went late.
