Ambrose Picks NDC Fire Chief

Information reaching DAYBREAK is that blundering Minister for Interior, Ambrose Dery has played into the hands of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) by picking another NDC affiliated senior officer named Kwame Kwareteng. Kwame Kwarteng, DAYBREAK was reliably told, is billed to be the next Chief Fire Officer and possible replacement for ailing Chief Fire Officer Albert Brown Gaisie.
Albert Brown Gaisie, DAYBREAK has learnt, is in seriously bad health, unable to attend important meetings at the Jubilee House called at the instance of the President, His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo.
The goof by the Minister of Interior comes in the wake of a previous scheming that went bad in the failed bid to have his classmate Brigadier-General Francis Vib-Sanziri, who he had wanted appointed as Army Commander.
The next very competent and able officer, DAYBREAK learnt, is William Jesse Mensah, who is the current Head, Operations. Interestingly, this fine fire officer is being asked to proceed on leave, even when the ailing NDC appointee is still officially at post and unable to perform.
In a letter sighted by DAYBREAK dated February 21, 2017 and signed by the Chief Director Mrs. Adelaide Anno-Kumi, for the Minister of Interior, addressed to the Chief Fire Officer, Gaisie, Mr. William Jesse Mensah, Deputy Chief Fire Officer (Operations) is being asked to proceed on leave
“I am directed to request Mr. William Jesse Mensah, Deputy Chief Fire Officer (Operations), to proceed on his annual and terminal leave prior to his compulsory retirement on 12th September, 2017,” the letter affirmed.
This incidentally is a Chief Fire Officer who cannot attend any official business meeting even at the instance of the President being asked to effect changes in a state agency he has no control over, because of a nagging case of ill-health, in addition to the fact that he is due for retirement himself.
Continuing, the letter stated that “The Chief Fire Officer is requested to kindly give effect to this directive”.
