Victor Osei Poku, aide to assaulted Member of Parliament (MP), for Manhyia North constituency Hon. Collins Owusu Amankwa, has said that, Chairman Antwi Bosiako popularly known as Wontumi ordered macho men to beat up his boss yesterday at the Nana Fordjour polling station during the limited registration exercise on Sunday May 1, 2016.

Chairman Wontumi according to information gathered had earlier asked the MP to form a team to observe the exercise since the constituency executives are not recognized as such due to the dispute over their legitimacy to stay in office.

Hon. Collins Owusu Amankwa acting on the directive to put the team together among other persons selected his special aide known as Aggudey, who is said not to be in the good books of the Regional Chairman.

Narrating the incident to Nyankonton Mu Nsem, Amankwah said Chairman Wontumi on his rounds in the Manhyia North constituency later upon reaching the registration centre saw Aggudey and confronted him and asked the latter to leave the centre.

A heated argument ensued and Chairman Wontumi in a fit of anger tried slapping Aggudey but the slap landed on the face of the MP who attempted blocking Chairman Wontumi.

The aide to the MP said his boss acted responsibly by not reacting to the attack due to the office he is holding and respect he had for the party.

The secretary of the Manhyia North NPP, Felix Abraham had his share of the attack as he was reportedly assaulted by the macho men accompanying Wontumi to the polling station.

The secretary according to Victor Osei Poku was raised high into the sky by one of the macho men and landed on the ground.

Confirming the attack, the secretary said one of the macho men asked if he [Felix Abraham] should be shot until the police intervened.

According to him, he has lodged a formal complaint against Chairman Wontumi and has been assured by the police that, they will investigate the case and take the necessary action.

He said he may not have money like Chairman Wontumi to influence anyone, but he is hopeful that the police will deal with him in the remits of the law.
