Celebrated Broadcast Journalist, Kwami Sefa Kayi has slammed private Legal Practitioner and Member of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abraham Amaliba, for his reckless comment threatening that Ghana will burn if the Electoral Commission(EC) Chairperson, Charlotte Osei is removed from office.

Mr Amaliba has threatened that the peace that the country has enjoyed will be terribly disturbed if the Akufo Addo led-government does not stop using the system to harass the EC Boss.

The embattled EC Chairperson is expected to answer for six allegations out of the 27 accusations leveled against her by her two deputies Amadu Sulley (in charge of Operations), and Georgina Amankwa (in charge of Corporate Services).

This follows her appearing before the Chief Justice at the Supreme Court on Monday, December 11, after the President forwarded a petition by Forson Ampofoh and Godsway Dzado, both drivers at the EC office for her impeachment in relation to alleged corruption and mismanagement.

The two deputies are to also answer for their alleged roles in the disappearance of some GHS480,000 from the EC’s Endowment Fund, among other allegations.

Mrs Osei, has said she has not been officially served with the petition and has a result has written to the Judicial Service to provide her with reasons why she has been asked to appear before the committee even though she has not officially received a copy of the petition to be privy to the accusations leveled against her.

Commenting on the development, Lawyer Amaliba found everything wrong with the EC Boss not having a copy with the petition when such serious allegations have been made against her.

“…What has the woman done? She has declared election results in your favour and so what again do they want from her that they are using the process to harass her?

“Where are the CDDs? Where are the Occupy Ghanas? If it were to be the NDC government all these people would be speaking by now. Where is Emile Short? Where is Professor Martey? This country will burn and we will see where all of us will be and so they should continue doing it.”
But Kwami Sefa Kayi commenting on Amaliba’s outburst said, the latter being a lawyer should show a lot of maturity in his utterances and refrain from comments that have the potential of plunging this country into chaos.

“You can’t threaten that this country will burn, what do you mean? Who is he, we’ve pampered politicians in this country for too long a time and so they think Ghanaians are subservient to them. He’s a lawyer and should know best, he should stop spewing out nonsense. What does he mean by Ghana will burn?
