Ama Busia denies Palaver story on resignation, demands apology

Accra, Sept. 7, GNA - Ms Ama Busia, First National Vice-Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Tuesday denied a story by "Ghana Palaver" that she had resigned from the party and demanded an apology. In a statement issued in Accra, she said she left Ghana in June on a private visit to the US, where she interacted with NPP branches there.

"Not only have I not resigned from the NPP but, with my name and background, it is entirely inconceivable for me, even to contemplate abandoning the Danquah-Busia tradition for any reason.

"Accordingly, I am demanding that the 'Palaver' takes immediate steps to redress the mischief it sought to cause on its front page, in its next four issues, a retraction of the false report and an apology to me.

"If the paper fails to do this, I shall advise myself accordingly to protect my reputation and integrity and that of my dear party."
