Over the years, class and school reunions have grown in popularity. Thousands of graduates from high schools, colleges and professional institutions look forward earnestly to these annual reunions.
For most people, it’s the fun of reconnecting with old mates and reliving wonderful moments from school; for others, these gatherings offer an opportunity to network and rekindle old relationships.
Despite the growth in demand for such gatherings, some of these events have become meetings instead of reunions - with rigid formats and long speeches. They are either limited to conversations over meals, a trip out of town or having a few drinks in the park. Sadly, these “reunions” are almost always with the same mates who have the same jokes and want to do the same thing every year.
The Joint Event Idea
The National Schools Reunion Project was birthed on the idea that people can compete, network and still have fun at a reunion that is reminiscent of what happens during inter-college, zonal or regional competitions. Participating schools will compete in 5-aside soccer games, 100m dash, Basketball, Pool, Tug-of-Peace, Sack Racing, Egg and Spoon race, Scrabble, Checkers, Cards, Ampe, Arm Wrestling and several other activities including break dancing!
