Aliu’s 1st anniversary celebration to begin Nov 9

Observance of the first anniversary of the death of late Former Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama is scheduled to start Saturday, November 9, 2013, organizers have announced.

The observance is expected to end Sunday, November 17.

A programme of activities has been planned between that period, organizers stated.

“These include a health walk, showing of documentary on his life, public lecture and launch of Aliu Mahama Foundation, Christian and Moslem prayers, remembrance football match and grand Adua,” a statement issued by Dr Samuel Kwadwo Frimpong, the Secretary to the Organising Committee, said.

“The Committee appeals to the public and well-wishers to participate in the programme in any diverse ways that can bring honour and dignity to the name of the former vice president,” the statement added.

Late Vice President Mahama died on November 16, 2012 at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after a short illness.
