Aliu Mahama to renovate Yendi Hospital Mortuary

Construction works are to begin this week on the Yendi Government Hospital mortuary in the Northern Region to keep it in good shape to better serve the people of the area.

The works will involve the renovation of the mortuary and building and the installation of new refrigerators.

The construction works are being sponsored by Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, Son of former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama and citizen of Yendi, in response to an appeal by a youth group in the area to put the mortuary in good shape to help avert a public health threat in the area.

Alhaji Mahama visited the facility at Yendi on Monday and interacted with its Management to assure them of his intention to renovate the facility.

He said he had earmarked an amount of GHc150,000.00 to undertake the renovation works, and installation of the refrigerators, which would be completed by January, next year.

The Yendi Government Hospital mortuary has not been in use for about two years now, a situation some residents described as a public health threat as they did not know how to preserve the dead before burial in the area.

Alhaji Mahama commended government amongst other stakeholders for their support for the Yendi Government Hospital, urging all citizens of the area to also contribute their quota to improve on the standard of the hospital.

Mr Nayim Kwaku Musah, Administrator of the Yendi Government Hospital said in the past 30 years, the mortuary had not seen any renovation and called on well-meaning citizens of the area to support the facility to deliver quality health care for all.
