Gambaga, May 1, GNA - Hajia Alima Mahama, Minister for Women and Children's Affairs, has established a Senior High School for girls in Gambaga.

It is the first girls' school in Mamprusi East District to provide an opportunity for girls in the area to access good education. Hajia Mahama, also Member of Parliament for Nalerigu-Gambaga Constituency, visited the school shortly after she was retained as New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Constituency.

She said work on the school begun in 2005 with her share of the Member of Parliament Common Fund and later assisted with Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Fund and Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND).

The District Assembly provided land and furniture for the school. Hajia Mahama advised the girls to study hard and make a good name for the school since they were the pioneers and needed a good record for others to emulate.
