Declaration of Intent to Contest in the 2018 national Delegates Congress as National Youth Organizer
Ladies and Gentlemen from the press. You are all welcome! Sincerely speaking, I thank you for coming to convey my simple message to the rank and file of our party, Ghanaians, and the world even on short notice. This explains your commitment to providing for young people and our democracy as the fourth estate of the realm, thank you!
This year have been a season of elections after elections for us in our party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Right from constituency executive elections to regional executive elections, It has been a great success. The election atmosphere has been a progressive and cordial one. I'm proud to associate myself with such a political party.
I wish to take this opportunity to congratulate the entire party, and most especially the contestants in the immediate past constituency and regional elections for a fierce electoral campaign well fought. You have shown a great deal of political maturity and most importantly, it proves once more that our party is the front bearer in deepening the democratic culture in our country.
The National Executive Committee have opened nominations for the national executive elections of the New Patriotic Party. It is clear to everyone that, I Alhassan Abdul Ganiyu has, for some time now, been lacing up my boots for this day, to contest for the National Youth Organizer position in our party. I have called you all here to officially declare my intention and readiness to enter into the race.
Our party has come a long way with deep tradition and culture. In 1958, following the passage of the avoidance of Discrimination Act in December 1957, the Northern People's Party went into a merger with the National Liberation Movement, giving birth to United Party, the mother of today's New Patriotic Party. Despite the quality of leadership both parties had in the persons of Dr. Busia, Chief Dombo and Tali Naa Yakubu, the promise of an inclusive and united party that could restore hope and provide a meaningful alternative leadership for the citizenry of the new Ghana was more dear to them than their individual ambitions.
Six decays down the line, the dreams of these illustrious founders of our party still remain relevant today. As president Dewight D. Eisenhower, that: "if a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power". This belief have been fundamental in the building of our party.
Among all the political parties in the country, the New Patriotic Party has the clearest role specified in the constitution; broader inclusion, and have gone ahead to provide it the space and opportunities to develop its own policies and procedures to represent and better serve and promote the interest of the youth within the party at all levels. However, this opportunity has not been properly utilized to the fullest by the past leadership of the youth wing to the full benefit of the youth.
This gap in effective leadership of the youth has motivated me to put myself forward to lead the youth wing of the party. I stand for a reform agenda that will focus on the full utilization of our party structures to promote a youth empowerment program that can produce the competent youth required to lead the party in the future. This agenda will focus on; expanding the youth network of the party, creation of youth volunteer corps, deepening democratic culture of the party’s youth, imbibing party values in the youth and providing opportunities for the growth of young people in the party. It is about time to shift the role of the youth in the party from being passive followers to active participants in building our party with their creativity and energy to mobilize our communities for Development in Freedom. In due course I shall spell the details of this reform agenda in a manifesto for the elections

The New Patriotic Party as it is today is not just a political party but a political tradition and one that fills her members with pride to belong. Our tradition is one that brings Ghanaians of all walks of life and status to form a strong bond that strengthens democracy and more importantly, ensure the dividends of democracy is shared among the people through developments in freedom. I stand before you today to remind you of events of this tradition since our party’s founding is as relevant today as it was before, and as young people we cannot afford to sit back
Long Live NPP! Long Live Ghana!!!
