Member of Parliament(MP) for the Awutu Senya East Constituency and Minister of Special Development Initiatives, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has indicated that if she would ever be convicted and imprisoned for importing ambulances, then she would serve her term after former Health Minister Alex Segbefia who imported empty vans during the tenure of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) has served his full term in incarceration.

Reacting to claims by National Communications Officer of the NDC Sammy Gyamfi that she would be the first to be prosecuted for constructing dams that are not fit for purpose, Ms. Koomson remarked sarcastically that she would join Alex Segbefia and serve him water in prison since by then, Mr Segbefia would have been exhausted in incarceration.

“If Sammy Gyamfi says Hawa Koomson will be the first candidate to be prosecuted then I beg to differ…Alex Segbefia will be the first person to go [jail] then when I get there, I will give him water to drink because by the time I get there he would be tired,” she told the host of the Eko Si S3n programme on Asempa FM recently monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

Ms Koomson then revealed that processes were underway to prosecute the former Minister of Health for importing minibuses instead of ambulances during the NDC’s tenure.

“I am told the issue (regarding the importation of the vans as ambulances) is in court. So I will still find and get back to you,” he revealed.

The erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) government imported many ambulances which have been parked ever since their arrival because they are not fight for purpose.
