Accra, June 2, GNA - Mr Alban S.K. Bagbin, Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing on Wednesday alleged that he had received threat messages from some people at Kasoa, in the Central Region to lynch him.
"Since assumption of office, I have received several text messages from unidentified persons threatening to eliminate me because I have instituted a Task Force in the water sector to check those impersonating as revenue collectors," he said.
Mr Bagbin made the allegation during an inspection tour of the desilting of the Avenor drainage in Accra.
"I am not perturbed or panicked about the threats. Those involved would be traced and arrested for appropriate action to be taken against them," he stressed.
On the exercise, Mr Bagbin expressed concern about the slow pace of work and warned the contractor to speed up work.
The Minister advised people in the area to be vigilant and prevent those who dumped refuse into the drainage from doing so.
He stressed the need to increase the height of the retaining walls to prevent people from throwing rubbish into the drainage. Some of the people said they were assaulted when they tried to prevent people from dumping rubbish into the drainage and appealed for a special task force to 'police' it.
Mr Richard Tagoe, Project Manager of Pentruxx Construction, assured the Minister that the project would be completed on schedule within three weeks. 2 June 10
