Alan camp quells posters allegation

The Ashanti regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has brushed aside rumours that it was behind the emergence of posters of former diplomat and flagbearer aspirant, Alan John Kyerematen in the region.

Speculations are rife that Mr Kyerematen was bracing up for the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), since its flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo failed to wrestle power for the party in his second attempt.

In an interview with Citi FM in Accra, the Special Aide to Mr Kyerematen, Gifty Addo vehemently disassociated her boss from the circulation of the posters.

Samuel Payne, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the party, contributing to the issue on the same platform, said the act was being perpetuated by detractors of the party and not NPP followers.

He said for now what the party’s hierarchy in the region was interested in is to ensure that all necessary evidence is gathered to overturn the electoral results.

He asserted: “We are going to look into it and come out with whatever decision that we would want to take.”

The NPP has accused the Electoral Commission of conniving with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to rig the just-ended presidential and parliamentary elections.

Consequently, the party says it will be heading to the Supreme Court for the declaration of the results to be overturned.
