A Deputy National Youth Organiser of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Eric Edem Agbana has declared that President Akufo-Addo has turned Ghana into the laughing stock of other countries following the termination of the Power Distribution Services (PDS) deal and the subsequent withdrawal of $190 million dollar support the American government had pledged to Ghana as a result of the PDS concessionaire agreement.

Reacting on social media, the vibrant young man argued that the shame and embarrassment being suffered by Ghana are as a result of the friends and family of the President planning to steal from the country.

“President Akufo-Addo has made Ghana a laughing stock in the comity of nations. This is Shameful and Embarrassing! This is what the family and friends’ orchestrated thievery has brought us,” he alleged.

The United States government announced the withdrawal of the $ 190 million it had made available to Ghana due to the cancelled of the PDS deal which cancellation it described as “unwarranted”.

Government had earlier terminated the PDS deal citing mainly fraud on PDS’s part.

While others have praised the Government of Ghana for having done well in discovering the fraud, and being bold enough to terminate and risk the sanctions, others have chastised it for showing a lack of leadership in handling the deal.

Opposition NDC members while calling for the prosecution of the persons involved in the PDS saga, have blamed the botched deal on mainly the Presidency and the President, alleging that the President is neck-deep in the scandal.
