Akufo-Addo reacts to Amissah-Arthur's death

President Nana Akufo-Addo has reacted with shock to the death of former Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur.

In a series of tweets, President Akufo-Addo described the death of Mr Amissah-Arthur as unfortunate "since he [Amissah-Arthur] appeared to have a lot to contribute to the public life of our country."

He went on to praise as Amissah-Arthur as a "longstanding public servant, who discharged his duties with dignity" adding that "Ghana has lost a fine public servant" in Amissah-Arthur.

President Akufo-Addo also extended his condolences to the family of the former Vice President and to the National Democratic Congress(NDC), particularly to former President John Dramani Mahama.

Mr Amissah-Arthur, as earlier reported by YEN.com.gh, died at the 37 Military in the early hours of Friday, June 29.

He had been rushed to the hospital after collapsing at the Airforce gym while training.

The sixth vice president of Ghana's Fourth Republic, Amissah-Arthur served under John Mahama's administration.

He was 67 years old.
