Akufo-Addo promises to tackle spate of armed robbery head on

President Akufo-Addo has reiterated his commitment to address the recent armed robbery cases that have bedeviled the country.

He described the situation as totally unacceptable saying that no miscreant will have the space to terrorize citizens and generate a sense of insecurity in the country.

President Akufo-Addo said government will provide the means for the police to modernise their equipment and learn modern methods of policing, adding that their numbers will be rapidly increased to match the growing population and the sophistication and audacity of criminals.

Speaking at the 61st Anniversary of Ghana's Independence at the Black Star Square in Accra, President Akufo-Addo said he will work to ensure that citizens are able to go about their daily duties in the confidence that they are safe.

The President also echoed the Ghana Beyond Aid agenda and said it is not meant to be just a slogan but rather, to propel the country into the frame of mind that would quicken the pace of development.

President Akufo-Addo said the world has become digital, and competitive, and that Ghana has to take advantage of the digitisation age.

The President said his government has undertaken deliberate policy reforms to digitise Ghana to formalise the economy.
