Flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo has begun investigations into the conduct of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, over his involvement in the ADB bribery scandal.

Nana Addo, kasapafmonline.com understands, summoned the Effutu legislator before a three-member panel of which he was the chair to determine if there was an iota truth in his (Markin) alleged extortion of money from the ADB worth GH¢25,000 before dropping the suit he (Markin) and his client has brought against the bank.

The said meeting was also to determine if Mr. Afenyo-Markin in all his dealings with the bank sought the consent of his client.

It was also to determine if all the names Mr. Afenyo-Markin mentioned in an audio tape recording which had gone viral on social and other media platforms were truly involved in the bribery scandal.

The said engagement which took place three weeks ago at Nana Addo’s Nima residence had Kwesi Bonzoh, Mr. Afenyo-Markin’s childhood friend in attendance.

Mr. Freddie Blay and a host of others whose names were mentioned in the audio tape recording which had the voice of Mr. Afenyo-Markin discussing with Bonzoh how he could make GH¢1,000.000.00 from the ADB IPO deal were also present.

The Minority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who was on a national assignment in Indonesia and the Minority Chief Whip, Daniel Botwe were absent from the meeting.

The outcome of the meeting was immediately not known but our sources say, Nana Addo who has declared a zero tolerance for corruption when voted into power was not happy with the conduct of Mr. Afenyo-Markin who until his alleged involvement in the ADB bribery scandal was a rising star in the NPP.
