Akufo-Addo not plotting against Afoko, Agyepong – John Boadu

The National Organizer of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu has denied claims that the flagbearer of the party Nana Akufo-Addo is plotting to remove some national executives from office.

A former campaign manager of the party, Dr. Arthur Kennedy in a statement alleged that Akufo-Addo does not appear focused on campaigning for next year’s elections but prioritizing the removal of the National Chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong from office.

“Finally, it is breathtaking that 18 months to an election, with the governing party floundering, the main priority of the opposition Presidential candidate is the removal of his duly elected and loyal executives,” portions of the statement noted.

Dr Kennedy’s comments come on the back of the recent tensions that have engulfed the opposition party following the decision of some executives to call a steering committee meeting without the consent of the national chairman

Commenting on the development, the former national Youth Organiser told Starr News the claims by Dr. Kennedy are baseless.

“Nobody is planning anything against anybody in the party.

“It is the duty of the national chairman to call for steering committee meeting. It is in his absence that the first vice chair acts.

“If you have the power to act and you are not acting, then you can’t blame anybody. We have a party to run and someone must take responsibility and ensure that things run. If you don’t discharge your responsibilities, you don’t expect to blame anybody if they act because the party machinery must work,” he noted.
