The Asokore Traditional Council is mounting pressure on President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo Addo to with immediate effect, remove the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Sekyere East, Hon. Mary Boatemaa Marfo.

The call by the traditional authority is at the behest of the respected Paramount Chief of the Asokore Traditional Area of the Ashanti region, Nana Dr S. K. B. Asante.

At a press conference at Effiduase-Asokore on Tuesday, the chiefs alleged gross insubordination against the DCE and declared that, she is unfit to be at her post.

The Kontihene for the Asokore Traditional Area, Osabarimah Asare Boamah Ankomah III who addressed the press conference covered by MyNewsGh.com said the DCE has on numerous occasions showed disrespect for the Asokore Stool and its occupant, Nana Dr S. K. B Asante, refusing to avail herself whenever an invitation is extended to her to appear before the council.

The traditional authority has since served notice that, it would not hesitate to storm the Jubilee House to present a petition to the president to remove Hon Mary Boatemaa Marfo from office immediately.

About a fortnight ago, a group, calling itself the Concerned Youth of Sekyere East which claims to have been in existence since 2012 says, much as aspects of the work of Hon. Mary Boatemaa Marfo is commendable, they will not sit aloof and watch her bring the name of the district into “disrepute”.

In a press statement issued by the Concerned Youth of Sekyere East District, signed by its General Secretary, Collins Owusu Nyarko and copied to MyNewsGh.Com, claims by a section of the members of the assembly who attempted a vote of no confidence against the DCE have been corroborated.

They cite alleged financial malfeasance in the award of contracts, evacuation of some refuse dumps and the creation of “ghost schools and ghost caterers” to receive unmerited payments from the Ghana National School Feeding Programme among others.

They have warned a section of the members of the Sekyere East District Assembly who called themselves “concerned assembly members” to desist from shielding the DCE from public scrutiny or they have themselves to blame in September 2019, when the district level elections would be conducted.
