Member of Parliament for Tamale Central constituency, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, has called on government to pay part of the monies thousands of Ghanaians invested in embattled gold dealership firm, Menzgold Ghana Limited.

According to him, even though the government was not obliged to do so, it could make that intervention based on humanitarian grounds.

He said, "I would have supplemented Menzgold’s payment efforts, especially in the event that the company is unable to fully pay all its clients principal investments after all possible avenues have been exhausted,’ he exclusively told Kwame Tutu on Anopa Nkomo on Accra based Kingdom FM 107.7

Meanwhile, some aggrieved customers of Menzgold in Accra were recently reported to have said that they should be paid by government because they also paid taxes. Nana Appiah Mensah reportedly left Ghana in December 2018 to ‘chase’ a $31 million owed him, but was later arrested in the United Arabs Emirates (UAE) over an alleged scandalous $51 million deal involving an Emirati firm named Horizon Royal Diamonds.

According to Joseph Dindiok Kpemka, Deputy Attorney General, NAM1 was arrested in Dubai on December 7, 2018, in connection with the alleged fraud case.

This follows continued cries for government intervention from such customers despite the Finance Minister earlier stating that the government will not pay customers their monies locked up in the company.
