Akufo-Addo is a “political juggernaut” – NDC Lawyer

A member of the governing National Democratic Congress’ legal team, Chris Ackumey, has described the twice-defeated presidential candidate of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as a “political juggernaut” in Ghana.

“I think that Nana from my point of view is a political force to reckon with in this country”, Mr. Ackumey told Radio XYZ’s news analysis programme ‘The Analyst’ on Saturday September 7, 2013.

In his view, Nana Akufo-Addo “draws a great crowd. He draws a great following. He’s got very great sympathisers and people who believe in him are too many to ignore”.

“Nana cannot be [wished] away”, he warned.

“If I, as an NDC member, think that he cannot be [wished] away, then I believe that it is the same with an NPP man”, Mr. Ackumey said.

According to him: “Today, even those of us who are not NPP, we think that he is the political general who can take the NPP army to war at anytime…”

He said Nana Akufo-Addo is cast in the mould of the late self-acclaimed “political juggernaut” of Nigeria, Mr. K. O. Mbadiwe and, therefore, urged the NPP to recognise the clout of the former Attorney General as the party debates who leads it into the 2016 elections.
