President Akufo-Addo has commissioned the Ga East Municipal Hospital sited at Kwabenya.

At a ceremony held today, October 6, 2019, the president said the commissioning of the project is a realisation of a long awaited demand of the people of Ga East Municipal Assembly.

“This hospital has been long awaited in Ga East and it is good that today the demand for a district hospital of quality has been realised. Residents and surrounding health facilities in Ashongman, Dome, Haatso, Kwabenya, and Madina will now gain access to improved healthcare from the Ga east hospital.”

The president said the construction of the hospital and 8 others under the Ghana Hospitals project, falls under a broader objective of the government's effort to provide infrastructure for the delivery of effective healthcare.

He added that government remains committed to improving access to essential and quality health care, through the provision of the necessary health infrastructure, equipment, and logistics.

President Akufo-Addo reiterated an earlier call by the minister of health on the administrators and management of the facility to effectively implore the culture of maintenance in the management of the facility.

“I want to reinforce the call to the administrators to embrace and strengthen the culture of maintenance. This edifice has been put up at a great cost to our nation and we should be in the position some ten years down the line to see it still in good condition.”

Whiles commending the project financiers, Euroget Group, for the completion of the hospital ahead of its December 2019 schedule, the president indicated that his government will provide all the needed support for the completion of the remaining projects under the Euroget Ghana Hospitals Project.

The newly commissioned Ga East Municipal Hospital is fitted with modern medical equipments and designed with several departments including an outpatient department, administration block, emergency and casualty unit, a mortuary and others.

The Ghana Hospitals Project involves the design, construction and equipping of one military hospital, two regional hospitals and six district hospitals in Ghana at a project cost of $339 million and will deliver a total of 810 beds.
