The President’s rejected nominee for Municipal Chief Executive Position for the Ejisu Juaben Municipality in the Ashanti region, Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh, has accused NPP Flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo of being part of a grand scheme to ensure he never gets elected.

The embattled former MCE who has been rejected twice by assembly members claim Akufo-Addo’s recent visit to the area to monitor the limited voters registration exercise during which he met certain key people is evidence of his involvement in the plot.

Mr. Yamoah Ponkoh who failed to acquire the needed votes to take up the position during the last election polled 38 votes out of a total of 68 valid votes cast instead of at least 46 votes to secure the position.

He has attributed his inability to get the nod mainly to the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka Wontumi’s influence on the assembly members most of whom are NPP supporters.

Speaking on Okay FM Tuesday, Yamoah Ponkoh stated that not even the machination by Chairman Wontumin and Akufo Addo will stop him from being elected.

“Nana Akufo Addo was here, he visited some of the polling stations. From Kumasi he came straight to the assembly premise and met with some people. That indicates how he’s bent on me not being elected. But I remain unperturbed by all those moves. I know they have their focus on me, but I will still make it.”

Mr Ponkoh who was elected as the best MCE of the year in 2014, bemoaned the skewed nature of the assembly claiming that out of the 48 elected members of the Ejisu/Juaben assembly, 41 are NPP supporters; an allegation he said was an open secret to everyone in the area.
