Akufo-Addo Calls On GA Mantse

Thursday, August 12, 2010:-* Nana Akufo-Addo, The NPP 2012 Presidential Candidate on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on the GA Mantse, King Tackie Tawiah III and the GA Traditional Area to formally introduce himself as the party’s candidate for the 2012 general election.

The visit according to Akufo-Addo was to also seek the Kings blessings and the support of his people in the 2012 general election.

“I have come here today to formally introduce myself to you as the NPP’s Presidential Candidate and to also ask for your blessings, support and counsel in my quest to lead this great nation”. He said.

He thanked the GA Mantse whom he described as a source of inspiration, for his continuous support and guidance any time he called on him.

More to this he said the GA Mantse was an asset to the chieftaincy institution in Ghana due to his exceptional qualities and therefore called on all GA citizens to accord him the needed support in his quest to develop the GA State.

On the recent NPP Congress which elected him as the party’s Presidential Candidate for the 2012 general election, Nana Akufo-Addo described it as unprecedented in the NPP’s history due to the number of delegates who took part in the election process and the remarkable manner in which it was organised.

He said he was overwhelmed by the massive endorsement he received from party delegates across all ten regions of the country.

This according to him, has given the party a strong platform of unity and strength to contest the ruling NDC in the 2012 general election.

He used the opportunity to thank all members of the party who made sure that the August 7 election ended peacefully and successfully.

He called on all party members to come on board in unity to ensure that the party wins back power in 2012 from the NDC.

In a short remark, the GA Mantse thanked Nana Akufo-Addo for his visit and also congratulated him on his massive win on August 7.

He also congratulated the entire NPP for the free, fair and peaceful manner in which it conducted its elections and urged the other parties in Ghana and on the continent to emulate the impressive achievement of the NPP.

Politics and governance according to the GA Mantse is about development and the empowerment of the citizenry and therefore called on all politicians to avoid politics of vindictiveness when they win power and concentrate on the development needs on the entire nation.

Nana Akufo-Addo later in the company of the NPP National Chairman Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, Mr. Ishmeal Ashietey, NPP Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Hon. Shiek I. C Quaye, MP Ayawaso Central, Hon. Prof. Mike Ocquaye, MP Dome Kwabenya, Hon. Ashong Narh MP Tema East, among others presented food items to the GA traditional area.
