Akropong-Akuapem, Oct. 5, GNA - The Akuapem North District Assembly on Wednesday presented five computers with accessories valued at GHC 7000.00 to the Akropong Division of the Ghana Police Service. Making the presentation at the premises of the Police Station at Akropong- Akuapem, the District Chief Executive for Akuapem North, Mr Georg= e Opare- Addo, said the gesture was in response to a request made by the Police to the Assembly. He said the Assembly, recognizing the important role the Police were playing in the area, decided to respond quickly to their request to ensure that they were well- equipped to carry on their day- to- day activities for the benefit of the people.
Mr Opare- Addo commended the police personnel in the area for ensuring peace throughout the year and assured the assembly's readiness to assist them in diverse ways to make their work easier. The DCE assured that very soon the assembly would present two additiona= l printers to them to make their day- to- day office work easier. He appealed to the Police Administration to practice the culture of maintenance to guarantee the lifespan of the computers. Receiving the computers on behalf of the Service, the Akropong Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Ernest Owusu, thanked the Assembly for the gesture.
He said the computers would assist them in discharging their duties effectively. Chief Superintendent Owusu said lack of computers in some of the office= s were impeding their day- to- day administrative work, especially records keeping and, therefore, appealed to other organizations to see the Police a= s their friends and not enemies and go to their aid. He assured that the computers would be used for the purposes for which they were donated.
