Akandoh presents medical items worth GH¢1.5 million to Ga North Municipal Hospital

The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has presented a consignment of medical equipment valued at GH¢1.5 million to the Ga North Municipal Hospital, underscoring the government’s commitment to strengthening existing health facilities.

He explained that "The donation followed a surprise visit to the hospital, during which it was discovered that the facility was operating without some critical resources."

The equipment, numbering over thirty, includes anesthesia machines, incubators, nebulizers, ECG machines, steam sterilizers, stethoscopes, hospital beds, delivery sets, ward screen and other essential medical tools.

Akandoh emphasised that the donation represents a significant capital investment and urged hospital authorities to ensure proper maintenance and effective use of the equipment for the benefit of patients.

He further noted that healthcare delivery is built on a strong foundation of infrastructure, personnel and equipment, cautioning against neglecting existing facilities in favor of solely constructing new ones.

Dr Caesar assured the minister that the equipment will be well-maintained, emphasising the facility’s strong culture of preserving and maximizing the use of medical resources.
