Ahwoi Writes To ADB ?On His ?16Billion Debt

Mr. Ato Ahwoi, a former co-ordinator of the Office of Revenue Commissioners (ORC), whose company, Cashpro, owes the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) an amount of ?16billion, has advised the bank on how to retrieve its money.

In a letter dated July 6, 2004 to the ADB copied to the management of Peacefm and Daily Guide, respectively, Mr. Ahwoi said his attention had been drawn to a lead article in the July 6, 2004 edition of Daily Guide newspaper.

The publication, according to him quotes, Hon Ken Ohene Agyepong, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North, as saying on Peace FM last Monday, that Mr. Ato Ahwoi, has ?numerous chain of assets, including three houses that he owns in the United Kingdom (UK) and that, even, the furniture in one of those houses, is made of leather, and is painted yellow.?

According to Mr. Ahwoi, Hon Agyepong is quoted further by Daily Guide as urging him to go and pay his ?16 billion debt to the bank. He confirmed that indeed, he?s director of Cashpro, and admitted that, his company owed ADB and that the debt must be settled.

However, according Mr. Ahwoi, since Mr. Agyepong has stated that he knows of some three houses that he, Ahwoi owns in the United Kingdom, which he, Ahwoi, is not aware of, then he was urging the ADB to contact Hon Agyepong for the details regarding the locations and addresses of those three immovable property in the UK.

He told the ADB that when given all the necessary information, ?I, by this letter, do authorise you to dispose of all such property in the UK, and use the proceeds to defray part or all of Cashpro?s debts to your Bank.

Finally, he urged ADB, per his letter, to contact Daily Guide and Peace FM for the necessary assistance in locating and disposing of any such property in the UK.
