Mankranso (Ash), Dec 28, GNA - The Ahafo-Ano South district assembly is to award dedicated and hard working staff of the district directorate of the Ghana Health Service.

Mr Kwaku Obeng Boateng, the District Chief Executive, who announced this, noted that in spite of the exodus of health personnel to other countries for greener pastures, others continued to discharge their duties to the people in the area.

He was speaking at the end-of-year party organised by the district health administration at Mankranso on Tuesday.

Mr Boateng said, despite brighter opportunities elsewhere the few devoted health workers had decided to serve their country and said their efforts were highly appreciated.

He said the assembly had provided equipment at the various health centres and completed the Sabronum health centre, constructed a theatre at the Mankranso Hospital and was sponsoring some students in some health institutions to enable them complete their courses.

Mr Boateng called on the people to support the current democratic process adding that without peace the much-needed development would elude the district.

He also asked them to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme, which would take off early next year so that they could get access to good quality health care.

Dr Edward Tagoe, the District Director of Health Services, urged the health workers to be committed to their work to ensure effective health delivery in the district.

Nana Obiri Agyei Mankran, chief of Mankranso, called on the people to avoid conflicts, bury their differences and forge ahead in unity for the development of the area.
