The late Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Mr Emmanuel Kwabena Kyeremateng Agyarko, was the attention of many ladies, as his charming nature attracted many suitors who vied to be his wife, first wife Josephine Agyarko, has disclosed.

In a tribute to her late husband at the burial ceremony at the Zimmerman Presbyterian Church at Krobo Odumase in the Lower Manya Krobo municipality of the Eastern Region, Mrs Agyarko recounted the good times she shared with the politician.

She said Mr Agarko was a responsible Christian who cherished his family.

“At the time he was doing his National Service at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, I was in the final-year in the university. He was 28 and I was 25. We were both born-again Christians and we loved the Lord. We got married on 4 January 1986. He was a charming and eloquent young pharmacist. Every young lady wanted to be ‘Brother’ Emmanuel’s wife,” she stated.

She said they “loved each other dearly and were committed to building a life together”.

Mrs Agyarko noted that the deceased was a “brother and a father to me and I was a sister and a mother to him”.

According to her, the good times that she spent with the deceased outshines the bad times they had together during their 33-year relationship.

“It is easy to set aside the bad memories and the painful times. When I remember his kind and ever so wide smile, his kind nature and his dedication to his family, especially his children, indeed, we had some wonderful times,” she noted.

Mr Agyarko was separated from Josephine for about seven years at the time of his death. They have two adult children, Jane Damaris Agyarko and Daniel Wayne Tei Padi Agyarko.

Mr Agyarko also had a set of quintuplets with Lydia Alhassan – three boys and two girls.

Mr Agyarko later spent his last years with Eva Mends.

The junior brother of former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko, died at a hospital in the United States of America on 21 November 2018, after a long battle with illness.
