Former President John Dramani Mahama has joined the plethora of tributes pouring out for the late Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko, whose demise has shaken the foundations of the ruling government and indeed the nation as a whole.
The brother of the now-dismissed Minister of Energy, Boakye Agyarko, died at a hospital in the United States of America after a long battle with illness.
In a statement dated November 22, 2018 and signed by his Special Aide, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Mr. Mahama distinguished the late MP as one whose political stance did not affect his gallant personality. ‘Exemplified gentleman’, is how he described him, indicating how ‘shocking’ news of his death was to him.
“I received news of the Hon. Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko’s death with great shock last night…..politics may divide us on ideological lines and during debates and arguments but Emmanuel Agyarko’s personality and his conduct even in the political space, always exemplified the gentleman he was”, he wrote.

Background
The New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament passed on at a hospital in the United States after a protracted ailment.
Mr Kyeremanteng Agyarko was a pharmacist, medical doctor, and a politician born on December 10, 1957 at Odumase Krobo in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
He had a Bachelor in Pharmacy which he obtained at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in the year 1982.
Emmnauel Agyarko worked as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Food and Drugs Authority Head Quarters in Accra.
He was married with seven children.
Following his death, President Akufo-Addo and several other NPP members as well as other dignitaries have visited the family to commiserate with them. Tributes have also been flowing in honour of the deceased MP.
