Agribusiness Management introduced at KNUST

Accra, Feb.10, GNA- The Department of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management (DAEFM) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has introduced a new four-year BSc Agribusiness Management Degree programme from the 2004/2005.

Arrangements are also underway to mount a new MSc programme in Agricultural and Rural Development (MSc MARD) in partnership with the International Centre for Development-oriented Research in Agriculture (ICRA).

This was contained in a report presented by Professor Kwesi A. Andam, Vice Chancellor of the University at its 37th Congregation held in Kumasi at the weekend.

The report said a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between KNUST and ICRA provided for " Capacity building of individuals and institutions in Agricultural and Rural Development (ARD) to better support the needs of the rural development sector in Ghana".

It said both parties recognised that capacity building for technology development and transfer to resource the poor agricultural sector was a priority objective of KNUST/DAEFM.
