Aggudey commends Dagbon

Tamale (N/R), April 23, GNA - Mr. George Aggudey, presidential candidate of the Convention People's Party (CPP) in the 2004 general election, has commended the people of Dagbon for maintaining calm during the burial of the Ya-Naa Yakubu Andani II and the installation of an Andani Regent.

Mr. Aggudey was in Yendi to mourn with Dagbon following the burial of the Ya-Na Yakubu Andani and also witness the installation of his Regent.

He told the GNA in Tamale on Saturday that Dagomba's had exhibited love, unity and togetherness during the burial of the late king and also during the installation of the Regent.

"I was one of those who had bad mind about Dagbon, but what I saw on Friday has proved that Dagbon is a place to live and witness culture."

He appealed to the media not to "sing negative praises," of Dagbon, but should also highlight the good things about the area to promote unity. Mr Aggudey said he would have regretted if he had not join both families of Dagbon on Friday to witness the installation of the Regent, which he said clearly showcased Dagbon culture to the rest of the world.

"I am happy to be one of the living testimonies to the skin in Dagbon, where people danced and engaged in musketry without any confrontation and had exhibited that they are one people," he said. He commended the Committee of Eminent Chiefs, headed by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for making it possible for both Abudus and Andanis to "dance under one umbrella." He appealed to the government not to relent in any effort that would assist the people to live in peace and harmony.
