The Coalition of Aggrieved Customers of MenzGold (CACM) has called on the Acting Chief Justice to urgently resume and fast-track the long-delayed criminal trial of the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM1.

According to a citinewsroom.com report on Friday, September 12, 2025, the group expressed deep frustration over the slow pace of the prosecution, warning that justice delayed is worsening the plights of thousands of customers across the country and abroad.

“The ongoing criminal prosecution, even though started on a speedy trial, latest developments show that it is going on at a snail’s pace. We would like to call on the respected Chief Justice and the courts to ensure that the trial resumes on a daily basis so that justice will be served within a reasonable time,” the report said.

According to CACM, the lack of progress in court proceedings has compounded the emotional and financial trauma of victims.

Menzgold Case: Appeals court dismisses NAM1's application to halt criminal trial

The group stated that since the collapse of MenzGold seven years ago, more than 240 customers have died, some through suicide, while many others are battling severe health complications.

The fresh call comes months after the Court of Appeal dismissed an application by NAM1 to halt his ongoing criminal trial.

The application was filed pending the determination of an appeal against a High Court ruling that ordered him to open his defence.

In 2024, the High Court directed NAM1 to open his defence in a criminal case in which he faces multiple charges, including the sale of gold without a licence, fraudulent breach of trust, defrauding by false pretence, and money laundering.

His legal team, however, challenged the ruling, but the appeal was struck out in May this year.
