Imam calls on children to obey their parents

Kumasi, Jan 20, GNA-Sheikh Ibrahim Alkadi, Ashanti Regional Imam of the Ghana Muslim Mission, has called on children to obey their parents as Isaac obeyed his father Abraham.

He said it is only when children obey their parents that such children would be able to achieve their desires in life. Delivering a sermon after an open air prayer to mark the Eid-Ul-Adha festival at the Mission's school park at Akwatialine in Kumasi on Thursday, Sheikh Alkadi stressed the need for Muslims to fulfil their contractual agreement they make with people to win their confidence.

He advised the congregation to refrain from negative attitudes in life and contribute positively towards development of the religion and the nation in general.

Alhaji Ibrahim Baryeh, Chairman of the Mission, called on them to lead peaceful lives to attract non-Muslims to the religion. He urged Islamic communities and Muslim leaders to use the festival period to organise clean-up exercises and other productive activities in the Zongo areas to improve the living standards of the people.

Mohammed Kyereapem, Ashanti Regional protocol Officer of the Mission, encouraged the youth to be committed to the Islamic religion and contribute seriously to the development of Islam at all levels. Mohammed Awal, National Imam of "Masha-Allah", a youth wing of the Mission, urged the youth not to be so much focused on worldly materials but work hard for their spiritual development.

Eight million cedis was realised at an appeal for funds in support of the construction of a mission house at Akwatialine.
