Africa is a continent of possibilities

The President of Possibility Trans-National Foundation, a non-governmental organization (NGO), Mr. Nathaniel Akyeampong has urged Ghanaians to inculcate the spirit of patriotism and volunteerism in their daily lives to help develop the nation and make it strong.

He said, "Ghana is indeed a country of possibilities and as a people, let’s raise the nation and the African continent high".

Mr. Akyeampong made the call at a Memorial Lecture in honour of the late Dr. Alex Quaison-Sackey, the first black African to be elevated to the high office of the United Nations General Assembly as President. It was organised by the NGO at Winneba.

He said the programme was to motivate and inspire the present generation of Ghanaians to cultivate and adopt positive mental attitude in their daily lives.

He said no one was born to be poor or a failure, but the ability to succeed in life depends on the individual because each and every one's destiny lies in his or her own hands."

“One may ask what then has Possibilities Trans-National Foundation got to do with Dr. Quaison-Sackey , to us, he was a man of possibilities, who in his own wisdom, diffused and erased the misconceptions that Africans are inept, bereft and bankrupt with ideas to administer over higher positions in the world,” he stressed.

“Think positive about Africa and for that matter Ghana, and discard impossibility thoughts since such notions will not help us to achieve greater successes, as African heroes such as Dr. Alex Quaison-Sackey, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Nelson Mandela and Julius Nyerere achieved their ambitions because they never saw themselves inferior,” he added.

Mr. Akyeampong said, " we should follow what the heroes of Africa left for us", adding that, "as a people, we have to be selective in other to be effective in life."

He said "the only way we can predict the future is to create it, so that we can reap its fruits".

“Life has got several challenges and we ought to stand firm during difficult situations in the name of the Lord God Almighty.”

He emphasized the need for all sons and daughters of Africa to change their thoughts about the continent and prepare their hearts, minds and soul and contribute effectively to make Africa a continent of possibilities.
