Africa Social Impact Festival launched in Accra

Accra is set to host the inaugural edition of Africa Social Impact Festival (AFROSIF 2020), a festival that seeks to bring together and celebrate the continent’s corporate bodies that are committed to social responsibility, charity outfits, non-governmental organizations, foundations and social enterprises.

The festival, slated for 8th May 2020, will create strong platforms for showcasing and telling the impact stories of numerous social and community interventions, while building partnerships, networking, exploring new opportunities and trends within the social change and development space.

AFROSIF 2020 will further explore several innovative and exciting communication platforms and opportunities will also create avenues for the exhibition of social impact stories, build strategic partnerships and synergies, network to build more positive changes; influence policies and generate a significant positive impact.

In a statement issued by the Partnerships Coordinator at Laugh for Lives Africa, Mr. Clarus Kwofie, AFROSIF 2020 is the beginning of a campaign to inspire, network and advocate for social impact makers.

“We are motivated by the development and humanitarian works carried out by the numerous individuals and outfits across Africa over the years touching lives, building communities, shaping futures, influencing attitudes and transforming behaviours in their quests to compliment developmental efforts by governments and in contribution towards the attainment of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. AFROSIF 2020 is, therefore, not only a fertile ground to inspire more people to touch lives and shape communities, but also celebrate initiatives while showcasing and cataloguing their positive social impact stories.” He said.

The one-day innovative event will also offer entertaining, educative and enlightening engagements from fundraising, CSR experts, social and behavior change practitioners through auxiliary events such as market fair exhibitions, capacity and skills-building workshops, and social impact storytelling sessions through documentaries, short films, poster sessions, talk-shows, visual communication tools such as photo stories and many other unconventional activities to engage various stakeholders.

It is worth noting that delegates will be challenged to look at the dynamics and new trends in the social impact space and to create new, collaborative models for the future. Each session will feature high-profile speakers, engagingly addressing the trendiest issues that will ensure the relevance and excitement of the festival. Each participant’s expertise, interests and areas of concern will be taken into consideration, along with global events and industry trends. Emerging social enterprises will be exposed to potential donors, experts and partners while networking, sharing experiences and building partnerships.

Over 200 delegates comprising Executive Directors, Country Directors, Foundation Managers, Donors, Fundraising Managers, Project Managers, CSR Managers, Marketing Professionals Communication for Development and Public Relations practitioners from both the public and private sectors across Africa, working on diverse social interventions are expected to participate in the festival.

Africa Social Impact Festival 2020 is a flagship event organized by Laugh for Lives Africa one of Ghana’s emerging indigenous social enterprises using storytelling for development, and being coordinated by Handwriting Communications, a communication for development and reputation management organization also based in Accra.
