Africa ICT Right, a leading EdTech nonprofit organization committed to advancing ICT and digital literacy across Ghana, has concluded a three-day intensive STEM workshop for 24 out of the 29 STEM coordinators in the Greater Accra Region.

The workshop, held from Wednesday, July 23 to Friday, July 25, 2025, took place at the Accra STEM Academy in East Legon.

It brought together coordinators from various districts and equipped them with hands-on experience in Arduino (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, 3D Design and Printing, Virtual Reality (VR), and Coding.

The primary aim of the workshop was to enhance participants' capacity to drive innovative STEM education in their respective schools and districts.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Daniel Kwaku Ganyoame, Executive Director of AIR, emphasized the importance of empowering educators to transform Ghana’s education landscape.

“When we invest in training STEM coordinators, we’re investing in the future of Ghanaian students,” Ganyoame stated.

“This workshop is not just about technology — it’s about equipping teachers with the confidence and tools to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and innovation in their classrooms,” he said.

The workshop featured engaging sessions that combined theory with practice. Participants learned to build and code Arduino-based devices, explored immersive VR learning tools, and assembled basic robotic systems. Sessions were led by AIR’s experienced technical trainers, who guided attendees through real-world problem-solving activities.

Participants widely praised the program for its relevance and interactive format. Mrs. Sarah Boamah, a representative from the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly, described the training as both insightful and impactful, underscoring the need for regular sessions of this kind.

Beatty Boah, the Regional STMIE Coordinator, expressed her appreciation to AIR for organizing the workshop and commended the STEM coordinators for their enthusiastic participation.

“This kind of training is exactly what our educators need to stay relevant and effective in today’s digital world,” she said.

“It was hands-on, practical, and highly engaging. I strongly recommend that such workshops be held periodically to build momentum and promote continuous learning among STEM coordinators.”

The event underscores AIR’s broader mission to support the Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education in modernizing teaching methodologies and promoting STEM education at all levels.

By empowering educators, AIR continues to play a vital role in preparing the next generation of Ghanaian students for a technology-driven future.

Looking ahead, AIR plans to expand similar training programs to other regions, with a particular focus on underserved and rural schools.
