Two Ghanaian parliamentarians, Sarah Adwoa Safo and Osei Bonsu Amoah, have resigned from the ECOWAS Parliament.

The resignation was prompted by their appointment as Minister of Procurement and Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Per the protocol and rules of the ECOWAS Parliament, an Executive member of government is not required to represent a country at thatParliament. Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin and Cynthia Mamle Morrison, MP for Agona West have meanwhile been appointed to replace the two ministers who have resigned their seat.
