Aduman Secondary School closed down

Mamponteng (Ash), Oct. 10, GNA - The Kwabre District Education Oversight Committee has ordered an indefinite closure of the Aduman Secondary School, following series of demonstrations by the students against the Headmaster.

A statement issued at Mamponteng on Friday and signed by Alhaji Kwasi Yeboah, District Chief Executive, said an investigative committee had been set up to look into the causes of the incident. The committee, which has one week to complete its investigations, is under the chairmanship of the District Director of Education, Mr Anthony Yao Boafor.

Students of the school embarked on a series of demonstrations from the beginning of this week calling for the immediate removal of the Headmaster, Mr M.Y. Mensah.

The students, who walked several kilometres to present their petitions to the Kwabre DCE at Mamponteng and the Regional Director of Education in Kumasi, accused the Headmaster of mal-administration. They also accused him of dismissing competent teachers from the school and this has caused the mass failure of students in the recent Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE).
