Administration block at Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital to be named after

Dr Galens

Dormaa-Ahenkro(BAR), April 29, GNA - Management of Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital at Dormaa-Ahenkro has decided to name the hospital's renovated administration block after Dr Van Galens, a Dutch medical practitioner who worked at the hospital between 1978 and 1984. Mr Fred Yaw Effah-Yeboah, General Manager of the hospital disclosed this during inspection of the renovation work. He said Dr and Mrs Galens deserved the honour to leave an indelible imprint in the memory of staff of the hospital and people of Dormaa-Ahenkro.

Mr Effah-Yeboah noted that the couple continued their contacts with the hospital on their return home. "Apart from the couple's visit to the hospital, they have been in constant communication with the staff and have exhibited their commitment to provide materials and equipment to the hospital. "In terms of infrastructural development, Dr Galens initiated the hospital's administration block, children's and special wards, primary health centre offices and expansion works at the main Out-Patient Department," he said.

Mr Effah-Yeboah said Dr Galens, who was the only medical practitioner at the hospital between 1978 and 1984, also extended his professional services to hospitals in Berekum, Jaman District and parts of Cote D'Ivoire.

He appealed to well-being individuals and agencies to adopt wards at the hospital, stating that the hospital would institute measures to recognise and appreciate their efforts.
