Ghanaian singer Sista Afia has publicly appealed to the Ghana Football Association to consider her for a role in supporting the Black Stars ahead of the FIFA World Cup, stating that her presence could help bridge the gap between sports and entertainment in the country.
In a post on Facebook, the popular songstress made a direct and respectful appeal to the GFA and all stakeholders involved in supporting the national team, citing her track record of using her platform to promote Ghanaian football both locally and internationally.
"Over the years, I have consistently shown my support and dedication to the team, using my platform to promote and uplift Ghanaian football both locally and internationally," she wrote.
Sista Afia cited the importance of representation, noting that as a proud Ghanaian female artist, she believes her involvement could inspire many and add visible value to the national team's campaign on the world stage.
"With the FIFA World Cup approaching, I would be honored to be considered for an opportunity to be part of this historic journey. I am confident that my presence would add value, inspire many, and further showcase the unity between sports and entertainment in Ghana," she added.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup, the first to feature 48 teams and co-hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico, will kick off in June 2026.
The Black Stars will represent Ghana, having sealed qualification with a 1-0 win over Comoros to finish top of Group I in the African qualifiers with 25 points from 10 games.
It marks the fifth time the Black Stars have qualified for the World Cup, and they have been drawn into Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama, with their opening game on June 17.
