Information available to The Chronicle indicates that police have arrested more suspects in connection with the murder of the former Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP), Mr. Adams Mahama Akabila.
Frantic efforts are being made to arrest the prime suspect, Asabike Alangdi, who is currently on the run. While some residents of Bolgatanga who claim the police picked up their relatives are still insisting that those relatives are still in their grips, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Thomas Agbanyon, maintains no more arrests had been made. According to him, the police have rather interrogated some persons who were giving them more information to aid their investigations.
However, sources within the police have revealed that so far, an additional six suspects have been arrested in connection with Adams’s death. Our sources further revealed some of the suspects were picked up on the dawn of Wednesday.
According to our sources, one of the suspects’ name popped up in almost all police investigations. Another suspect was also said to have bought acid from car battery recharging specialists on the day prior to Adams attack.
Meanwhile, others, we understand, were also arrested for allegedly holding a series of meetings with Gregory Afoko, the prime suspect, who was arrested and is now being tried in a court in Accra on same matter.
